We woke to discover that the B&B was also surrounded by beautiful gardens and countless birds. (Thanks to numerous bird feeders and despite several cats we noticed also watching the birds.
We got a chance to visit with our hosts at breakfast and heard a some interesting stories about their travels. Harvey as it turns out has some definite "opinions" which spurred some lively conversation with Karl who is of the same persuasion.....
Our first stop was Esquimalt, the naval base where Karl was in the '70's. We got close enough to get the security guard to take our picture in front of the gate before he suggested we couldn't just walk inside...... Sigh
Anyway, our whirlwind tour continued to Victoria Harbour where we wandered into at the "Empress Hotel" as if we belonged - it looked like something out of the 18th century! Then in the end we decided to skip high tea ($50/ person) in favor of the Spaghetti Factory! We wandered the harbor, tagged onto a tour guide explaining the background for the totem poles and got some great shots of Karl and one of the poles - the resemblance is incredible!
We spent the last few hours checking out Butschart Gardens. There just aren't words - it was the most beautiful garden I have ever seen and it just went on and on and on. On the bright side, I got some great ideas!!! I had no idea some of those plants could grow that big!!!
Ands here we are back on the ferry heading back to Vancouver. Apparently our hosts for tonight are out at a Pub watching the game and we will need to find that pub.....
