Our Vancouver B&B was in an elegant old house (we lucked out and got the nicest room)where there were several guests beside ourselves. It meant that breakfasts are the best time to meet the others and find out a bit about them. One jolly lady was from California & was doing an apprenticeship in Vancouver as a chocolateer - can you think of a better career? Another young couple were on their way home to Germany and yet another re off to go kayacing on Vancouver Island. So interesting to hear everyone's story!
We hit the road knowing that we had a 7 hour drive ahead and were actually glad to see the back of Vancouver. It's a beautiful place but is far busier than Toronto - poor Karl was worn out from yesterday.....
We wound our way back into the mountains and spent most of the day taking it all in! Lunch was in Manning Park resort where Karl tried to intimidate a grizzly that turned out to be wooden. We stopped every hour or so to check out yet another breath taking view and add to our mounting number of pictures.
It was late afternoon by the time we found our guest house which turns out to be a lovely 2 bedroom ranch house about 4 km. From the main house! It has everything we need including a front porch with a view that would knock your socks off!! Karl found a deer in the field next to the house - just siting there happily. After supper (wieners and beans)We headed off for a walk down an old road leading down the mountain into a pretty ravine. We got about halfway down and started noticing piles of "droppings" much bigger than a dog would leave and.... Some were fairly fresh!! Well, needless to say, we high tailed it back to the house and looked up bear droppings on the Internet - yup, looks the same!
Guess we'll just stay on the porch and play cards - nite!!
