So decided to give the Melting Pot Eatery in Radium another try, for breakfast. (Our last experience yielded a buffalo burger that turned out to be not only dry but vastly over priced!) Well, we should've learned the first time because we ended up paying $30 for a quite modest breakfast! This place is off our to-go list forever.
We finally made it to the Radium Hot Springs - delightful, just what we needed after our long day yesterday!
The rain held off just long enough for us to have our swim, and we continued on our drive to Banff and then it cleared up! We did take a short detour to "Sunshine" looking for a cup of tea and a bathroom. Well, Sunshine was not only 7 km. Off the highway but turned out to be a beautiful ski lodge which was securely closed. So, no tea, but the deer and mountain goats were all over the place! Some would let you come within a few feet to take a picture! We met up with 2 other cars at the ski lodge who had also come looking for lunch - great way to meet people.
We finally got that cup of tea as well as a fish & chips lunch in Banff. Beautiful town, looks like a mountain village, but tons of tourist shops and TONS of tourists. (Hey Juergen, Banff is quite similar to Wernegerode in Germany, in the way it looks and feels).
Canmore is just as pretty, but quieter. We checked out the village downtown and found that they were having an Art Festival this weekend. Really pleasant afternoon.
Our B&B is again a private unit on the edge of town with a great view of the "Three Sisters" mountains. We just happened to pick up a small print of a painting of the same view this afternoon!
Our hostess has turned out to be a wealth of info for local touring, so we had our day set up for tomorrow. I even talked poor road-weary Karl into going on a hike tonight. Just a few km. which involved a trail up the side of a mountain ending at a picturesque waterfall.
